About This Spot

Stepping into The Power Plant Cafe, you’re immediately embraced by a tranquil yet vibrant atmosphere that feels both effortlessly fresh and inviting. Nestled on Suwannee Street, this café pulses with a gentle energy that’s perfectly at ease with the natural light filtering through lush greenery and the soft murmur of conversation among morning visitors. Whether you find your spot on the shaded patio’s cozy couches or settle into a classic table beneath a wide umbrella, the pace here encourages slow mornings and thoughtful moments.

There’s a quiet rhythm to the space that pairs well with the cafe’s thoughtful blend of wholesome, comforting fare and creative drinks. The kitchen’s offerings have that balanced charm of nourishing ingredients served with a touch of warmth—smooth, subtly spiced lattes, vibrant green matcha with a floral hint, or freshly pressed juices that awaken both palate and spirit. Morning wraps and open-faced sandwiches unfold like little discoveries, each bite inviting a pause and a smile, perfectly matched by an iced coffee or a creamy oat-based treat. This is a place where food feels personal, like a caring nudge toward a gentle start.

The Power Plant is not just a stop for sustenance—it’s a grounded, local haven where the atmosphere nurtures connection. There’s an unhurried quality to the way the space is designed, inviting creatives, neighbors, and wanderers alike to linger and feel at home. Friendly faces behind the counter and intentionally curated seating options encourage casual conversations as much as solo moments with a book or laptop. The surrounding greenery softens the urban edges, making it a rare patch of calm even in the heart of downtown Tallahassee.

Each visit hints at quiet discoveries: a barista’s genuine smile, a sampled spoonful of overnight oats, the hushed intermingling of live music from nearby, or the cool shade that keeps summer’s heat at bay. It’s the kind of place that naturally becomes a morning ritual or a midday pause—calm yet quietly buzzing with the small joys of human moments, where every chair, cup, and conversation feels thoughtfully placed and welcome.

Gotta be one of the best outdoor chill spots in Tallahassee. Even in the summer, the patio doesn't feel too hot in the morning because it's fully shaded. Great variety of seating - from couch and armchair sections to normal tables with umbrellas. Our new fave morning spot. And Luca was so patient and friendly and cheerful with our whole group - thank you!

Visited today for the first time and was immediately impressed with the vibes. All the greenery gave the place a fresh look/feel. I ordered the Sausage, egg + cheese everything bagel sandwich. So good! The young lady behind the counter was very nice + even offered us free samples of their new overnight oats! Very nice place for aspiring content creators as it is verrry aesthetic. Will definitely be going back!

Was visiting from out of town and went for a walk. Found this cafe and loved the experience! It was a gorgeous day, there was plenty of outdoor seating, and the place next door had live music which was nice. My breakfast wrap and coffee were delicious and my husband enjoyed his smoothie

First time visiting this cafe at Cascades Park. Beautiful environment, staff was very friendly and welcoming. They have a wide variety of food and drinks. Ordered a veggie flatbread and gingerbread chai latte, both were great.

Fresh, authentic, & savory! Got the buffalo flat bread and cesar salad wrap. So savory and good! Pineapple smoothie was so refreshing in this Florida heat. We tried a variety of the overnight oats - pineapple coconut, strawberry banana, and raspberry peanut butter were our winners! Such an healthier option if your searching for a sweet treat. The atmosphere is very calming. Nice quiet vibe. Staff was so nice and accommodating!

Luka was awesome, if it wasn't for him we'd have left and it be 2stars max. Visiting out of state we stopped in for a late breakfast and drinks. House made caesar sounded good, except it isn't caesar just a vinaigrette no anchovies to emulsify and flavor. Next wrap down it is, especially since it specified it had pimenton (a specific type of Spanish paprika) turns out it was pimento (pickled peppers). Ok maybe some booze will help, a Paloma, yes please, except it was a vodka with grapefruit soda, you wouldn't put prime rib on a menu and serve grilled chicken because it's close enough. The instructions for the bar tell the staff to shake the cocktail with soda in the shaker, maybe get someone with at least a week bartending experience to redo the menu. And definitely stop just throwing buzz words around and be honest. Not major deal breakers but huge red flags of management/owners who are clueless or don't care. Luka was great, high energy, thoughtful service, and only reason this was a positive visit.
